Detroit Connections: Super Heroes

Nick's been working with elementary students in one of Detroit's public schools as a Detroit Connections artist-in-residence. Once a week, he goes in to talk to them about creating imagery, writing about their community and then takes photos of the kids acting out their super hero dreams.

He's featured on the Stamps School of Art & Design's tumblr page. Check it out!

Pop Ups: Behind the Scenes + The Next One at The Espresso Bar!

In December we had a blast with our first pop-up photo event at Liberty Street Robot Supply & Repair, the awesome storefront with all things robotic and fun. It also serves as a "front" for the literacy, tutoring and publishing nonprofit, 826michigan.

We were so thrilled and honored when they agreed to let us hold our pop-up in their writing center and the results were colorful and lively, thanks to some stand in robots (courtesy of our talented friend Dylan Strzynski).

Aren't they adorable?!

Which brings us to. . . our next pop up! This time we're partnering with our friends at The Espresso Bar, where highly crafted espresso drinks are doled out by the expert hands of proprietor Sandy Bledsoe. Bring your mom, your dad, your best friend or your crush for a coffee date unlike any other. Once you're settled with your drinks, we'll get you ready for a professional portrait of the two of you.

You don't need to sign up and we're hoping that it'll be a fun-loving day of caffeine and warm fuzzies after this crazy deep freeze we've experienced. And oh, did we mention it's on Valentine's Day? :) See you there!

If you know of a venue or organization that you think would be a great partner, let us know

Playtime: Old School with Mario + Luigi

Press 'play' on the video below. [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpOAYDkeCtQ]

There. Now you have the perfect soundtrack for today's post.

Over the weekend we headed over to Photo Studio Group to photograph a pair of cousins. But it wasn't just your typical session. They wanted to play dress up...

Pretty darn adorable, don't you think?

There was a bit of vying for the Mario costume.

But sometimes a little competition is healthy.

To have your child photographed in costume, shoot us an email info@chin-azzaro.com or call 734-929-2498

Happy Announcement : Baby Sessions

We couldn't help it. Once we started taking photos of our own, we decided that photographing other people's babies would probably make them just as happy as we are. So we want to spread the cheer of the non-traditional portrait. Check out our new Baby Session below. We're looking to take baby and children's photos to a whole new level. 000_3776

Here's the small print: Our wee one is still very young so we had to hold his neck up. It's up to you as parents if you want to have your hands in there for neck control. We also leave it to you to corral Baby but we work with you to ensure we get the best photos possible in one hour. Photo session includes travel in Ann Arbor, a fee is added for anywhere outside city limits. Additional friends and siblings are welcome but we'll need to charge a little more for lighting. Please allot for an additional 30 minutes for set up and break down of equipment, which is included in the cost. If you choose to have your session in our studio, there are lots more options. We send you all the usable images and you choose 5, which we then retouch and process and send back to you in high resolution quality to use for what ever you please. Let us know if you have any questions - 734-929-2498 or info@chin-azzaro.com We can't wait to meet you!

On the set: The Berenfeld Family

We had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful Berenfeld Family in their home. Front and center were Sophia, Elan and Sebastian along with parents, Celina and Omer. We met Celina a few weeks back when we were just getting settled into the business. As the owner of The Art Conservation Laboratory of Michigan, she shares our vision in aesthetics and maintaining art to its utmost potential. More importantly, her family is just as warm and lovely as she is.

Once we got warmed up, there were a lot of stories to be told.

Perhaps even a few that shouldn't have been shared!

Aren't the kids adorable?? Thank you, Berenfelds, for sharing your time and home with us!
